Letting Up Despite Great Faults (jeez what a mouthful to say) is a shoegaze indie band based in Los Angeles. Before I say anything more, give their newest track a listen.
Letting Up Despite Great Faults – Teenage Tide
After listening to that song, I honestly do believe this band is the West Coast version of the Pains of Being Pure of Heart (although I would have to say that the Pains of Being Pure at Heart are the East Coast version of Letting Up Despite Great Faults, seeing how they came first). There’s a carefree, youthful vibe that is so palpable as lead singer Michael Lee effortlessly sings this summer jam over the fuzzed out guitars. Grab someone by the hand and go to park nearest you to watch the sunset (while of course playing this song). The soundtrack to the best summer you’ve ever had, where everything seems to be stopped in time as you watch it all come to a bittersweet end. Don’t worry about it too much, just give “Teenage Tide” another listen and wait to be whisked away back into that dreamy, unadulterated bliss.
Good gah, I just realized that the lead singer is Asian! I have to admit that there’s a small surge of pride swelling up within me. That’s so sick. If you like what you hear, head on over to itunes to purchase the EP. [Itunes]
Here’s a track from their earlier years, where there’s more of an electric sound to it.
Hey Dylan, on September 26th, these guys are playing at The Satellite (which is in L.A)…it’s free too. Try your best to check them out for me you lucky son of a gun.
